The first time going to a CrossFit box you might fear that everyone is going to be in great shape compared to you. There are many exercises and variations to be learned, making you feel like a person who not only is out of shape but also out of knowledge. It might be that some of the people in the box are firefighters, police officers and even ex Olympic athletes. That can be scary.
Going to a calisthenics park might have a similar feeling. Others do more advanced exercises, all eyes might seem to be looking at you. From pedestrians to the people working out.
Another one is the gym. So many machines, so many spaces, so many people.
Starting workout journeys might feel scary. However, that first step is often the one that you have to do to start taking momentum. If you have a plan, you just follow it. There is a high chance that your inner fears will dissolve by just letting them to the side and not giving them much importance.
Having a plan makes you to not doubt. And having more knowledge, makes you fear less by approaching training with a focus on health and a constant learning mindset. We are here to improve.
Also, use those people who are ahead of you as motivations of what you can achieve. Make a mixture of your heroes to have a good value base. You can even evolve friendships with them and this will likely benefit your health positively.
I know, it is easier said than done but you know you can do it. You know you can be better. You choose when you start creating momentum.
🍽️ Eating in Singapore
The last couple of days I was in Singapore. As a certified nutritionist, I often find myself analyzing food with different focuses.
The conclusion of the last two days was that I could have eaten way better. My protein intake wasn’t covering my minimum requirements. I talked more about why is protein important in this other newsletter.
Due to bad expectations I ordered breakfast in one place thinking that it was going to be some chicken with a nice bread from Singapore. The food that they served was like a big sandwich with two different kind of sauces on top. It looked very unhealthy and something I would have never made myself at home. It was not what I expected.
Sometimes when travelling this happens. You might go to a place in a hurry because you have a flight. You might want to spend all the coins of that country before you take off. The conclusion was that I don’t have to sacrifice my health for those situations if it is not something I am choosing.
If I want to eat something not very healthy but it is a treat that I am giving myself, I want that it is my own choice. Not a constant situation of eating at airports unhealthy food because I didn’t plan properly any backup.
👩💻 What have I been up to
Singapore was a very nice city. There are many cultures combined in one place, it seems like everyone is at home because of all that diversity.
Also, it was very tropical and I trained in a park with lots of trees. Downside: the mosquitoes.
🧠 What’s next
Bali is my new home for the next month. I am registered at a gym here and will be working with a different program than the one I had before.
I am very excited to be in one location for a bit. This allows me to prioritize my time differently. To train, eat, enjoy and focus on Sunbathe.
Sunbathe is going well. I have been making tests and I am excited. Although I am frustrated at times when things don’t work, it’s part of the process and I embrace it.
Thanks for reading. Have a good week.
I love you very much world,
Julia
Thanks! I appreciate it very much.
