Training outside in the world
A calisthenics park can be thought of a playground for adults.
There are many in the world. Let me share with you some interesting ones I have found online:
The motto of Steel Warrior is “using steel to build lives, not destroy them”. The gyms are made using recycled steel from knives that were taken off the streets of London. It is an anti knife crime charity that aims to transform the lives of young people affected by crime, violence and social exclusion. As of today, they have three calisthenic parks in London, UK.
At the top of Cerro de las Tres Cruces in Medellín, Colombia you can find a calisthenic park with amazing views. Found this one randomly on YouTube through this video. Apparently, it can get tricky to go down if it rains since the slope gets muddy. The positive part of this park is that you get an extra workout when ascending the mountain.
The biggest calisthenic park in the world is located in Qatar. It entered the Guinness World Record for being the largest of its kind. The spot seems very impressive, you can get a full preview in this video.
There are two main websites that I have found for calisthenic parks in the world. The most famous one is calisthenics-parks.com. The other which has a friendlier user interface, although many images don’t properly load, is streetworkoutlist.com.
Can you guess which country in the world has the most calisthenic parks?
You might be surprised.
Russia! Both websites have different numbers regarding the amount of calisthenic parks, but in both, Russia is number one. Another fact that surprised me was that Spain was between top 5 and 10 worldwide. You can check both worldwide charts here and here. In both, Germany is number two.
Calisthenics parks has also an Instagram account, which I found interesting to check parks out in a video format.
To be honest, in my case, I mainly use Google Maps to find the nearest calisthenic park when travelling. If I can’t find any, I go on to search for regular parks and find if on the pictures there might be some workout bars.
When not finding any, or if you are short on time or the weather is not in your favor, you can always opt for a home workout to stay active. Better some movement than none at all.
Other blockers that I have found from others and for the Julia of the past are to be shy and to not know exactly what to do. In that case, I recommend reading this past newsletter.
👩💻 What have I been up to
Last weekend, Celia and I went to a National Park in Taiwan. We are both not understanding why the country isn’t more popular because it is insanely gorgeous.
Regarding other projects, remember that one client I mentioned in the last newsletter? They opted for another candidate this time.
These moments can let you down, having many internal conflicts in your mind. Adding to the uncertainty of the life as a freelancer.
The focus I chose is to be grateful that I got to talk to them, that I received very positive fact, and to just move on.
Weekly reviews have been helping me out in my life. I like many things and want to achieve a lot in a very wide range of areas. Probably the fact that I am a curious person has to do with it.
Reality is that you can’t do it all. You have to choose. Time is limited. Resources are limited. Your energy is limited. You have limits. I am learning to define mine in order to achieve more.
This week I read the newsletter of Elena Madrigal, a woman I admire a lot. She shared the mantra of the SEALs, the elite force of the entire U.S. military structure: “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast“.
In some way, it seems I am learning to internalize that. I am learning to save time to think, to plan, to define where I want to go and to not just build.
🧠 What’s next
This starting week, I will finish the phase of the project for the Spanish Fitness Federation. I will write the user manual for the website and onboarding the tester to rework smaller details.
Regarding Sunbathe, I want to take the week to combine sharing it in social media with ideating ways of spreading the word. I want to allow myself to be creative by sharing the vitamin D message. Alberto and I have also agreed to do a brainstorming session on how to share Sunbathe’s message.
In my weekly review I added: Remember, PATIENCE with everything Juli.
Which I should read more often because I was already impatient today with myself.
Have a good week.
I love you very much world,
Julia
